It is narrated in the Hadith that the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah (among all other days in a year) are the most dearest to Allah Almighty (Bukhari). According to one narration, actions accomplished within these days are better than Jihad even, except for the one who, during this time goes to Jihad and loses all — his life and wealth. (Bukhari).

According to the Ulama (pious scholars), just as night worship in the last ten days of Ramadan is the best worship than all other nights in a year, among the days of worship, the first ten days of worship of Dhul-Hijjah is the best than all other days in a year.

Therefore increase the good actions as much as possible you can during the days that are passing now, i.e. during these first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah – until the (first) day of Eid (i.e. 10th Dhul-Hijjah). At least fast on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, InshaAllah, which bears great merit according to Hadith. Those who fast on the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah are more fortunate (according to a Hadith, the reward of each fast on these days is equal to one year.)!

The good deeds of these times are very dear to Allah Almighty. That’s why we should be trying our best to engage in supplications, dua and zikr in all our postures. In addition, recitation of the Quran, Voluntary prayers, and charity should be increased. And the best worship in the days of Udhiya or Qurbani is Udhiya/Qurbani! We will be accomplishing all the good actions for the pleasure of Allah Almighty. Through these acts, we will be able to resemble our acts with the Hajis in Hajj, which will attract eternal blessings InshaAllah.

According to the Hadith, Zulhijja is included in the four holy months. Therefore, we should become pure by sincerely repenting (do Tauba from sins) in this holy period.

These auspicious days are a time to especially remember the objective and purpose of life.

It would be unwise to put off urgent work by saying “I’d rather do it tomorrow”. Since death has no age and predictable moment, it is inappropriate to delay repenting. Repent now. Let us sincerely repent inshaAllah.

Allah gives opportunity. We must take advantage of the opportunity while there is still time. We do not know on what pretext He will forgive us.
