Answering to someone\u2019s question that what does \u2018necessary\u2019 and \u2018unnecessary\u2019 talk refer to (or what are their differences), eminent Tabeyee<\/em>, Hazrat \u2018Ata Ibne Abi Rabah (R) replied:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our pious predecessors used to limit their talks into the following FIVE POINTS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. The recitation of Kitabullah (the Holy Quran) and its discussion<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The narration of the Ahadith and its discussion<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Command the right and forbid the wrong<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Discussion of the Ilm or sacred knowledge<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Essential words of life and livelihood<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    (Then he said:) Will you deny these verses?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    While (appointed) over you there are watchers, who are noble, writers (of the deeds) \u00a0<\/em>Sura Infitar: 10-11<\/sup><\/sub><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    When the two receiving angels receive (every human act to record it), seated (one) on the right and (one) on the left. Not a single word is uttered by one, but there is a watcher near him, ready (to record).<\/em> Sura Qaf: 17-18<\/sup><\/sub><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    (He continued:) If our Book of Deed had been brought forth of us daily, hadn\u2019t he been ashamed by seeing most of those unnecessary talks (recorded)? Won\u2019t he feel pity and say: Alas! Most of the deeds are completely extraneous pertaining to the world and the afterlife! Suwarum-min Hayatut-Tabeyeen<\/sup><\/sub><\/p>\n
