Hazrat Ali (RA) once lost a shield. At that time he was the Khalifa \u2013 Ameerul Mu\u2019mineen (Leader of the Believers). Suddenly, he saw one Jew carrying it. Hazrat Ali (RA) claimed, \u201cThis is mine.\u201d But the Jew rejected and claimed it as his.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hazrat Ali (RA) went to the Judge. He was Hazrat Suraiyh (R) \u2013 a Tabeyee, a very pious man. The Judge listened to Hazrat Ali (RA) and asked whether he has any witness or not. Hazrat Ali (RA) brought two witnesses accordingly \u2013 one his servant and Hazrat Hasan (RA) (His own son). The Judge accepted the servant\u2019s witness, however, he rejected Hazrat Hasan (RA) as witness for being the son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Note:<\/em><\/strong> Whether son\u2019s witness would be accepted or not \u2013 this issue has Shariah argument. Hazrat Ali (RA) was on its favor, however, the Judge was not. As the Judge is the authority of legal affairs, thus his opinion was valid and had to be accepted)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, the verdict was against the Highly dignified ruler. The Jew got the right of possessing the shield!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was Hazrat Ali (RA)\u2019s impression? Very simple. He walked out normally, accepting all that the Judge had said and showed due respect toward Allah Taala\u2019s Ruling without a single hesitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was the reaction of the Jew? Very astonishing for him, however. should not be surprising for us, the Muslims.
The Jew embraced Islam and admitted that the shield fell over on the ground one day and he picked it up, it was indeed the Khalifa\u2019s shield and not his. He returned the shield to Hazrat Ali (RA). But now Hazrat Ali (RA) refused to take it back and delightfully gifted it to the new Muslim. Later this man participated in the Battle of Siffin and got Martyred. (May Allah Taala give him high rank! )<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Noble Predecessors were like just like that and such incidents are ample in the books of history and their lives! A large number of people, rather most people during the time of Rasulullah \ufdfa and the Sahaba (RA) converted to Islam just by the manifestation of their great virtues. Today most of us lack a modest character and the noble virtues which are the key to attract people to Islam. Instead, most of us possess the character or personalities which are just opposite to our Rasulullah \ufdfa and the Sahabas (RA)! How can we expect progress and development being at the opposite way?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May Allah Ta\u2019la save and us! May we become aware of our wrongdoings and make a pledge to lead a piety life!<\/p>\n
