Proximity of Allah Taala or Nisbat <\/em>is a special blessing; no doubt, it is something every Muslim highly desire for. The truly pious people, whom we often refer to as, Buzurg, Wali-Allah, Friend of Allah Taala or a sincere devoted servant, are who had attained great pleasure already in this world and the most is to come in the afterlife for him (or her) only because of attaining the Pleasure of Allah Talla. This bounty can never be compared to any other, because, for a man it is the highest possible peak where he could reach being a servant (except Nabuwat <\/em>or Prophethood ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good News for the Auliya (Friends) of Allah Taala:<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Meaning:<\/em><\/strong> Listen, the friends of Allah shall have no fear nor shall they grieve [62] – those who have believed and have been fearful of Allah. [63] For them there is the good news in the worldly life and in the Hereafter \u2013 there is no change in the words of Allah \u2013 that is the great achievement. [64]<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commentary of the above verses from Ma\u2019ariful Quran by Mufti Shafi Saheb (R) \u2013 abridged: <\/em>In the verses cited above, particular merits, definition and identity of the Auliya\u2019 of Allah have been mentioned. Also given there is good news for them in the present world as well as in the Hereafter. The text says that they will have no apprehensions of facing some unpleasant or unforeseen happening, nor will they grieve over the non\u00adfulfilment of some objective. These Auliya\u2019<\/em> of Allah (men of Allah) will be people who believed and remained pious, righteous and God\u00adfearing. They are most welcome in this world and in the next world both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Allamah \u2018Alusi has said in Ruh al-Ma\u2019ani: That the Auliya\u2019 Allah are protected against fear and grief in the mortal world has to be seen in terms of what usually happens here. There are things worldly people generally fear or grieve about most of the time. They are chronically addicted to their mundane agenda of life. They have to have convenience, comfort, wealth and recognition. The slightest shortfall in any of these makes them nervous as if they were going to die without that. The fear of a minor discomfort or anxiety drives them crazy and they will go about finding ways and means to get rid of such irritants. The station of the Auliya\u2019, friends or men of Allah is way higher. In their sight, convenience, comfort, wealth and recognition one surrounds himself with in this transitory world are not worth their while that they go about acquiring these. Nor do they care much about the anxieties of the mundane and see no need to beef up their defences against these. Their life style admits of nothing but the recognition of His greatness and love for Him. So overshadowed they are with the fear of Allah and their humbleness before Him that they just have no use for worldly sorrow and comfort or profit and loss. (End of the Commentary, for complete commentary <\/em>read here<\/em><\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Nisbat or Proximity to Allah Taala<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Every Muslim, to some extent, has a connection with Allah Taala, but Nisbat<\/em> or proximity is something more than just a good relation. Nisbat <\/em> or proximity to Allah is referred to as such a relationship or bond that is much deeper and intimate. That is a level where Allah Taala gets pleased with His servant and blesses him with His Love and close Friendship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are the Signs of Proximity to Allah Taala<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

How could we anticipate that a servant has attained the proximity to Allah Taala? It could be anticipated by two indications. First, abundant Zikr (Remembrance of Allah Taala)<\/em>.  Second, all time obedience or submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first sign,<\/strong> abundant Zikr, which <\/em>means the servant in all situations is absorbed in the remembrance of Allah Taala, either through expressing gratitude (Shukr) or through expressing patience (Sabr) \u2014 he is always concentrating toward His Lord; the servant may be doing Istegfar (forgiveness) or reciting the words of Iste\u2019aza (refuge). Such a servant is always engaged in supplication toward Allah Taala. He is in a state of \u201cHeart is leaning toward the Friend, and hands at work\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Second sign is,<\/strong> the servant accomplishes the Fard<\/em> and Waajib <\/em>commandments of Allah Taala regularly and refrains from the restricted acts with care, i.e. he keeps himself away from all the evil\/forbidden acts. Such a servant abstains from all inward and outward sins. A Friend of Allah Taala strives to abide by the laws of Shariah <\/em>prudently in his life. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we attach ourselves to the Pious (who have already struggled and attained Allah Taala\u2019s proximity) with pure intention of attaining proximity to Allah Taala and continually make efforts on the Path of Allah Taala sincerely (by fulfilling His commandments) , INSHAALLAH there is hope that we could also attain Nisbat<\/em> or Proximity to Allah Taala!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O Allah! Provide us Your Proximity and Love! Aameen.<\/p>\n
