(Sura Baqara: 185)
This auspicious announcement clearly expresses Ramadan to be the month of the Holy Quran’s revelation and mentions that Al-Quran is the guide toward the righteous path and vivid direction of right and wrong.
The holy Ramadan is approaching. The blessed month is approaching. The month of forgiveness is approaching.
Indeed, this is the month of building up Taqwa – fear of Allah. One who is Muttaqi (possesses Taqwa) i
Allah Taala has repeatedly announced in the Qur’an: اتَّقُواْ اللّهَ “Fear Allah”, moreover, the command has been made to the believers especially, emphatically several times. And in Sura Baqara’s Verse no. 183, while commanding the fast of Ramadan and making it compulsory, Allah Taala mentioned, لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ – (meaning:) so that you be restraint (from all Allah Taala commands to restrain from); this is the gist of Taqwa – restraining from all what Allah Taala had commanded to restrain from. In fact, Allah Taala in this verse (Baqara’s Verse no. 183) has stated that Ramadan is the opportunity to learn and cultivate Taqwa.
Taqwa is the pinnacle level for a believer. It is Taqwa that will turn a Mu’min (believer) into a sincere and steadfast believer and a friend, a beloved of Allah Taala. He is a Muttaqi, who will enjoy in this world the ultimate peace of heart and no doubt for the Muttaqi are the greatest rewards in the afterlife. Ramadan is the period to train up ourselves as Muttaqi by instilling Taqwa in our hearts.
